By the time Cu and Sadie are outside, Saoirse's backpack is on the floor by the table, her jacket is on the hook by the door, and her trainers are on the floor beneath it. She curls her stockinged toes against the floor as she carefully worms her finger between the seal of the envelope.

She wonders what it is! Maybe it's a party invitation, or a pen pal letter, or a fun drawing that he made for her.

She slides it out and unfolds it, and sees that his scrawl is on the page, so it must be a pen pal letter.

As she begins to read it, though, she realizes that that's not what it is, at all.
