Though Sam wouldn't really have expected otherwise, both because Saoirse herself is so small and, more importantly, because he trusts Greta's judgment, it's nice to hear it stated outright anyway. If nothing else, it means he won't have to worry about Jordan getting ahead of herself. He can never predict when she'll decide to be fearless or what kind of trouble it might get her into, and the last thing he thinks any of them needs right now is for Jordan to be overly friendly with a very large dog and for something to happen because of it. While there might not be any way to tell now how this will go, that's one thing he won't have to concern himself with, and that goes a long way.

"Can I pet him?" Jordan asks, looking to Sam for permission, and then, when he nods her ahead, to Saoirse, whose decision it seems like it should be. Marvin, at least, seems pleased with the company, which Sam chooses to take as a good sign. He's not necessarily the most discerning or high-strung dog, but still, it seems like a good step in the right direction.

To Greta, Sam adds, laughing, "A very large crew. I think I might be feeling a little outnumbered."
