Jul. 3rd, 2018 07:39 pmIf Greta was a little hesitant to have Jenny over for tea, it's only because the poor woman seems as if she might pop at any moment, and the cottage doesn't seem like the best place for that. But once she was assured that there was still time to go, it had been an easy invitation to extend. They both had an afternoon free, and circumstances dictated that it not be terribly complicated: just a few hours of peace and quiet. And snacks.
Which ought to be perfect, really. For Jenny, it'll only be a few more weeks before 'peace and quiet' is in rather short supply. Best to soak it up while she still can.
And for Greta's part, it'll be nice to spend some time with Jenny without some overarching Darrow nonsense hovering over it all. It's impossible to look back on their first meeting without it feeling sort of tainted by the circumstances -- which is something Greta doesn't like at all (not least of all because it's not as if anything terrible happened at the time). This, she thinks, might help... offset that. In some small way.
She's expecting Jenny's knock, so she's ready to shush Sadie before the dog can do more than let out an affronted cough. "It's fine," she tells her, grabbing hold of her collar so she doesn't get it in her head to jump and opening the door.
"Hello, Jenny," she says cheerfully. "Here, come inside."
